James D. Ruchti
James D. Ruchti has spent his entire adult life in public service. He earned his undergraduate degree from West Point in 1993. Commissioned into the Army from the Academy, James served as a Military Intelligence Officer from 1993 to 1998, serving in Kuwait, Jordan, Germany, Arizona, and Georgia. He reached the rank of Captain before leaving the military to pursue a law degree. In 2001, James received his law degree from the University of Idaho, where he won the Conrad B. Duberstein National Moot Court Competition. Following graduation from law school, he served for one year as a law clerk to the Honorable B. Lynn Winmill, United States District Judge for the District of Idaho. As an attorney, James has always been deeply committed to law and public policy. He was elected to the Idaho legislature in 2006. Upon his reelection in 2008, he served as the Assistant Minority Leader in the Idaho House of Representatives. In 2009, James found that his true passion lay in representing individuals and their families, so he teamed up with friend and law school classmate, Joel Beck, to open Ruchti& Beck. James’ practice areas include personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation and employment law. James serves on the board of the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association. James enjoys reading, hiking, fishing and traveling. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Wendy, and their two sons.
